The 2022 Vine Cliff Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a single vineyard, estate grown wine composed of fruit from the site’s legendary terraced vineyard blocks grown closer to the valley floor. Intensely aromatic and outgoing, it shows ample boysenberry on the nose and a pleasing, toasted spice quality. Tart berry pie with a deeply toasted streusel crust immediately comes to mind. The wine is lively with plenty of freshness on palate—this is not meant to be a wine of punishing weight and structure. A small addition of Malbec contributes pleasing tannin and lingering notes of tanned leather and wood charcoal.
